Civil Defense Litigation Attorney
Foster Swift Collins & Smith P.C. is accepting applications for a full time Civil Defense Litigation attorney for the Southfield office. This office has a busy insurance defense, premises liability, transportation, employment, and general commercial litigation practice. Candidates should have significant litigation experience handling discovery, motion work, depositions and court proceedings.
Depending upon the qualifications of the candidate, this position may be either a senior associate or senior attorney position. Future potential for shareholdership. The firm offers a hybrid work policy and this position is eligible to be remote after training.

Position responsibilities include:
- Manage files through litigation process
- Represent clients in both negotiations and in court proceedings, including mediations, trials, evidentiary hearings, and motions
- Drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses and legal correspondence
- Handle all aspects of discovery
- Research legal issues
- Written and oral communication with clients, witnesses and opposing counsel
Position qualifications include:
- 4+ years litigation experience
- Admitted to State Bar of Michigan and be in good standing
- Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong research capabilities
- Strong work ethic, good time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage a busy case load, work under pressure, and meet deadlines

HEALTHCARE ATtorney
Foster Swift Collins & Smith, PC is seeking a full or part-time healthcare law attorney for its Grand Rapids or Holland office. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of healthcare law experience and have proficiency in the following areas:
- Provider contracting (physicians, hospitals, hospices, home care, pharmacy, DME)
- Regulatory compliance (HIPAA, anti-kickback statute, Stark, corporate practice of medicine)
- Business transactions, including Medicare changes of information and Medicare changes of ownership
- Healthcare licensing actions
This position may be a good fit for attorneys whose practice is a blend of business law and at least two of the above areas. Candidates must be licensed to practice in Michigan. Office Coordinator
Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith P.C. is accepting applications for a full-time Office Coordinator to work out of our Grand Rapids office. This position will provide administrative support to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in the maintenance of daily office operations.
Position Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinate office maintenance and security including:
- Oversee and track the issuing/activation and return/deactivation of key cards with Property Resources
- Ensure EPS is aware of office hours to ensure doors lock properly
- Report building maintenance issues to property management
- Coordinate needs with office cleaning service
- Oversee outside work crews as needed (e.g., office expansion)
- Ensure filter changes are scheduled with Water Wizard
- Track office expenses and credit card receipts, submitting monthly for approval
- Order supplies, refreshments, flowers, etc. as needed
- Prepare and schedule office activities, meetings and events, ensuring meeting places are set up and any catering needs are arranged
- Coordinate firmwide events with Human Resources
- Respond to and track miscellaneous marketing tasks (e.g., ballet tickets, community service events)
- Coordinate furniture repairs, disposal, and moves within office/between offices
- Work with IT to ensure new employee offices/work stations are set up for first day of work
- Ensure new employees are welcomed, tour the office, receive an office map, are added to office phone list, etc.
- Assist COO with administrative tasks and projects
- Provide back up coverage for receptionist and office administrative assistant as needed
- Sort and deliver mail as needed
- Perform other job duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or GED. Associate’s degree preferred.
- Must have at least two years of administrative experience, preferably in a busy office environment
- Must be proficient in Microsoft 365 Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Must be reliable, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidentiality
- Must demonstrate effective organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities
- Must have effective communication skills
- Must be a self starter and detail-oriented
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
