Lindsey M. Mead

Lindsey Mead is an associate with the firm's Business & Tax practice group in Lansing. Lindsey focuses on business law, intellectual property, business contracts, technology law, business certifications, and legal matters associated with business' use of artificial intelligence (AI). Lindsey regularly assists clients with trademark and copyright matters, including brand protection, copyright strategy, registration, enforcement, and related intellectual property agreements. She is also a member of the firm's mergers & acquisitions deal team and licensing team. 

In addition to her focus on business law, Lindsey is passionate about the arts and the film industry and how entertainment law intertwines with intellectual property and business law. She has expanded her practice to work in entertainment law, as well, assisting authors, influencers, podcasters, and more with contract review and negotiation and protecting their assets.

Lindsey is particularly focused on supporting women‑owned and minority-owned businesses. She advises clients on obtaining and maintaining women-owned and minority-owned business certifications. In particular, Lindsey specializes in assisting clients with the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council’s Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) certification process, as well as the United States Small Business Administration’s Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) and Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business certification programs. Lindsey is also committed to helping women-owned businesses in Michigan secure state-specific certifications.

Lindsey, along with fellow business attorney Amanda Dernovshek, co-hosts a podcast titled Businesswomen Talking, which provides a platform for women entrepreneurs in the state of Michigan to share their stories as business owners and discuss a number of legal topics that can pose hinderances for women leaders such as succession planning, IP protection, and entity selection/organization. Lindsey and Amanda also host quarterly networking coffee chats in the Lansing area for local women leaders, business owners and entrepreneurs.

Lindsey began her journey with Foster Swift in (2022) as a Summer Associate before returning to the firm full-time in (2023). Lindsey received her Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University's Moritz College of Law.

Community Involvement:

Lindsey continues to volunteer as much as she can with the elderly and still visits with friends at Community Village Assisted Living Facility in her hometown of Saginaw. She is also an active volunteer with the Tri-County Office on Aging (TCOA). Lindsey serves as the Membership Director of Women Lawyers Association of Michigan for the Mid-Michigan Region and on two committees with the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan’s state-wide chapter. She is a member of ATHENA WIN, a Lansing organization focused on offering information, support, and opportunities to women in business. She is also Second Vice President of Saginaw Valley State University’s Alumni Board of Directors.
