A solutions-driven corporate, finance, and commercial real estate lawyer, Robert Hamor provides high-quality legal representation in a variety of corporate transactional, litigation, and day-to-day corporate counsel matters. Known for his proactive, practical, and no-nonsense advice, Robert zealously represents his clients relating to:

  • Corporate Counsel: With clients ranging from family-owned businesses to large companies employing thousands, Robert serves as outside general counsel advising on the governance, growth, and management of various business entities. Matters include proactive law, contract review and management, labor and employment, regulatory compliance, and succession planning.
  • Corporate Transactional: Buying and selling a business can be a daunting matter. Robert provides deal-driven solutions at every stage of the transaction including preliminary negotiations, drafting contracts, due diligence, and post-closing matters.
  • Commercial Finance: With a background in finance, Robert has assisted in multi-million-dollar credit package negotiations while minimizing the risks to borrower’s day-to-day operations.
  • Commercial Real Estate: Drawing on his prior career in real estate, Robert works with various commercial real estate clients in the areas of buying, selling, and operating commercial real estate. Matters include contract negotiation, due diligence, environmental evaluation and remediation, and leasing transactions.
  • Litigation: With a narrow focus on litigating commercial and real estate matters for business and real estate entities, Robert’s corporate counsel and transactional experience gives him a unique insight into contractual matters and what was–and was not–negotiated between the parties.

In addition to his practice, Robert is a frequent speaker on topics such as the Corporate Transparency Act and various IT and Artificial Intelligence topics.

Robert graduated in the top 3% of his class from Western Michigan University - Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Magna Cum Laude and was a guest speaker at the 2011 American Bar Association Mid-Year Event, lecturing on the housing crisis and its effects on communities of color.

  • Lead counsel for the borrower in a $185,000,000 asset-based lending package in the automotive industry.
  • Lead counsel for the seller in the sale of a multi-million dollar environmental service business.
  • Lead counsel in the acquisition, and partial remediation of, contaminated commercial property.
  • Outside general counsel to one of Metro Detroit’s largest automotive manufacturing suppliers.
  • Represented the purchaser in one of the largest minority-owned business transactions in Metro Detroit.
  • Foreclosure counsel with respect to a multi-million dollar development involving involuntary bankruptcy procedures and the successful prosecution of the creditor’s claims against the guarantors.
  • Eviction counsel for several Michigan-based malls.
  • Corporate counsel for a facilities management company dealing with sales tax disputes in more than 40 states.
  • Successfully represented creditors in bankruptcy proceedings to recover collateral and further acquire the remaining assets of the bankrupt entity through a successful stalking horse bid.
  • Successfully defended creditors in bankruptcy proceedings against allegations of fraudulent transfers.
  • Successfully defended a commissioned salesperson in parallel Federal and State litigation relating to harassment and breach of contract/non-compete agreements.
  • Successfully obtained summary judgment in favor of an insurance broker alleged to have engaged in embezzlement and fraud.
  • Corporate counsel for various construction companies dealing with commercial and residential construction liens, restructuring, contract negotiation and drafting, Miller Act claims, and supplier and union disputes.
