Overview

Olivia Reid is an associate in Foster Swift's Business & Tax Practice Group in Lansing, Michigan. She helps business owners, nonprofit organizations, and individuals navigate complex legal and tax matters, with a particular focus on federal tax controversy, business transactions, employee benefits, and securities law.

Olivia regularly represents clients in matters before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), including audits, collection disputes, penalty abatement requests, installment agreements, and negotiated settlements. She works closely with clients to resolve high-value federal tax disputes and develop practical strategies to minimize tax liabilities and achieve favorable outcomes.

In addition to her tax practice, Olivia advises businesses through all stages of the business lifecycle, from entity formation and governance matters to day-to-day operational issues. She also counsels clients on employee benefits and nonprofit organization matters, including obtaining and maintaining tax-exempt status.

As a member of the firm's mergers and acquisitions deal team, Olivia assists clients with complex corporate transactions and securities offerings. Most recently, she was part of the Foster Swift team that represented a client in raising more than $30 million through a private placement financing completed in connection with a reverse merger transaction and public company listing.

Olivia earned her Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University and her Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law. While at Michigan State, she served on the Executive Board of Empowering Women in Law, an organization dedicated to supporting women pursuing legal careers and advancing women's education and opportunities. Today, Olivia continues that commitment as an active member of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan. She recently co-authored the article When There Are 2.52? which was published in the organization's journal.
