Mindi M. Johnson

Mindi is a member of Foster Swift's Health Care Practice Group and works from the firm's Grand Rapids and Lansing offices. Mindi practices primarily in the areas of health care law, employment law and employee benefits law. Specifically, the types of matters Mindi handles for her clients include:

Health Care Law

• Advising health care providers on various legal issues, including fraud & abuse, regulatory, licensing, compliance, billing, Medicare/Medicaid, HIPAA, privacy, electronic records, employment and mergers & acquisitions;
• Assisting with preparation for Health Care Reform (PPACA) implementation;
• Drafting corporate and provider agreements, compliance policies, employment contracts;
• Regularly presenting to hospice, long term care and billing/coding trade organizations on industry-specific topics

Employment Law

• Advising employers on human resource issues, including matters related to discrimination, harassment, hiring, termination, worker classification, confidentiality, FMLA, ADA, Title VII and employee benefits;
• Drafting various legal documents, such as employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, non-competition agreements, severance agreements and personnel policies and procedures

Employee Benefits Law

• Advising taxable and tax-exempt non-governmental employers and governmental employers regarding federal and state deferred compensation and welfare benefits law, including matters related to fiduciary standards and ERISA compliance;
• Drafting various employee benefits documents, including 401(k) Plans, Employee Stock Ownership Plans and QDROs
