Overview
Courtney G. Agrusa is a member of the firm's Municipal practice group, based in Foster Swift's Southfield office. She regularly assists clients with the navigation and litigation of employee disciplinary matters and researching varying subjects facing municipal entities.
Municipal Law
Courtney's experience in municipal law consists of reviewing contracts, millages and ordinances while also researching and drafting opinions and memorandums on varying subjects facing municipalities, counties, cities, villages, townships, and other entities including:
- Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
- Open Meetings Act (OMA)
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Paid Medical Leave Act (PMLA)
- Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
- Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
- Michigan Zoning Enabling Act (MZEA)
Employment Matters
Courtney assists clients with the navigation and litigation of employee disciplinary matters, labor negotiations, grievance arbitrations, unfair labor practices, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Charges, Michigan Department of Civil Rights Complaints, Unemployment Insurance Agency Appeals, and recall appeals.
She drafts, reviews, and revises personnel policies, procedures, and handbooks.
Michigan Election Law
Courtney consults clients on recall issues, recounts, and other election challenges, resulting in the litigation of recall appeals and oversight of recounts.
