Adam A. Fadly

General & Commercial Litigation Practice Group Leader

Overview

As Co-Leader of the firm’s General and Commercial Litigation Practice Group, Adam brings a wealth of experience and strategic insight to complex litigation matters across Michigan and beyond. He serves as lead trial counsel in a broad range of civil cases, including first- and third-party automobile accident defense, insurance coverage disputes, property damage claims, dog bite cases, and premises liability matters. His practice also includes professional liability defense involving medical, pharmacy, and dental malpractice, as well as claims of defamation, conversion, false imprisonment, and assault and battery.

A trusted advisor to a diverse client base—including self-insured entities, national insurance carriers, third-party administrators, institutional clients, and individuals—Adam is known for his precise evaluation of risk and reserves and for crafting cost-effective litigation and resolution strategies, whether through mediation or trial. He represents national corporate clients in high-stakes tort and professional liability claims, overseeing complex litigation and implementing risk mitigation strategies from inception to resolution.

Adam also serves as coverage counsel to several global and nationwide insurers. He routinely drafts comprehensive coverage opinions, denial letters, and reservation of rights letters, and works closely with general counsel, claims adjusters, underwriters, and agents. His coverage work often involves litigating declaratory judgment actions centered on complex policy language and disputed claims.

His practice further includes the defense of claims brought under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Michigan Persons with Disabilities Civil Rights Act (PDCRA), and the Michigan Workers’ Disability Compensation Act, including related retaliation claims. Adam also collaborates with Special Investigation Units (SIU) in handling suspected insurance fraud matters.

A seasoned courtroom advocate, Adam has drafted and argued dispositive motions in both state and federal courts, including appellate courts, and has taken and defended numerous lay and expert depositions. He has successfully tried cases to verdict and is widely trusted for his skill in negotiating high-exposure settlements through effective mediation strategies.

In addition to his litigation work, Adam serves as Chair of the firm’s Contingency File Committee and is an active member of both the Compensation and Diversity Committees.

Adam earned his bachelor’s degree from the Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University and his law degree, cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law. While in law school, he was captain of the Moot Court and Trial Advocacy Board and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Entertainment & Sports Law. He also completed a judicial externship with the late Justice Elizabeth A. Weaver of the Michigan Supreme Court. He is fluent in speaking the Arabic language.

Adam enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, traveling, and playing guitar and drums in his free time.
