David R. Russell
David Russell joined Foster Swift in 2010 after gaining corporate and commercial litigation experience at two smaller mid-Michigan law firms. Dave practices in the areas of business law, real estate law, sports and entertainment law, probate and estate administration as well as related litigation in these areas.
A former manager and owner of several successful businesses, Dave has first-hand knowledge of the legal and operations challenges business clients face. Eager to share his legal and practical business knowledge with future business owners, Dave teaches Business Law at Northwood University and has done so for several years. This is why David is such a highly sought after business and corporate attorney in Lansing.
Representative Matters
- Successfully defended a lawsuit by an airport claiming incorrect aerial surveys. The client prevailed on Motion for Summary Disposition.
- Successfully defended a sexual harassment suit. The client prevailed on a Motion for Summary Disposition.
- Successfully negotiated a sale from the court appointed receiver, which saved client's second mortgage position. The client was eventually able to sell the property and recover the debt.
- Defended a licensed establishment with numerous MLCC violations keep their liquor license.
- Negotiated a settlement of an individual that had hired a contractor to re-roof his home. After completion of the service, the contractor refused to repair substandard work. After the negotiation, the roofing company agreed to re-roof the entire home at no charge to the client.
