Frank T. Mamat is one of the nation’s preeminent labor law attorneys, and focuses his practice on complex labor issues, with a special focus on union matters, contract negotiations, unfair labor practice litigation, National Labor Relations Board practice, organizing attempts by unions, mass picketing and violence, secondary boycotts and pressure, and Federal and State OSHA matters. Frank is known for his accessibility and responsiveness to clients and considers himself on-call 24/7/365.

Clients come to Frank with their most pressing labor issues. Through the years he has successfully counseled clients on virtually every type of labor matter possible. (See 'Representative Matters' for detailed examples.) In 2012 the Michigan Senate retained Frank to help prepare Michigan's "Right to Work" law.

He is a member of the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers and is annually selected as one of the Top 100 Labor Lawyers in the U.S. by the Labor Relations Institute. Frank is listed in Best Lawyers® in America, Michigan Super Lawyers, dBusiness magazine's Top Lawyers in Metro Detroit, The American Lawyer Top Lawyers, Crain's Detroit Business Best Lawyers, and The American Registry's Top Lawyers in Michigan. Representative Matters

  • Prevented the unionization of staff at United Nations
  • Negotiated  labor agreements for all major TV networks and movie studios on the West Coast
  • Successfully defended dozens of national companies in workplace fatality cases ( under OSHA and MIOSHA standards)
  • Effectively negotiated lowest wage rate contracts in the state for Michigan Road Builders Association
  • Reduced Employer's healthcare costs by over 30%  for Hines at Renaissance Center (and General Motors) and Art Iron (Ohio and Indiana operations)
  • Negotiated stand-alone contracts with Operating Engineers (Local 324) lower than any other existing Local 324 contract
  • Successfully negotiated contracts and "beat" strikes against United Steelworkers, UAW, Plumbers, Pipefitters, etc.
  • Represented Governor Snyder and State of Michigan in upholding State ban against Project Labor Agreements
  • Successfully advised Michigan Senate on drafting and passing of Michigan "Freedom to Work" (Right to Work) legislation. (2010-2013)
  • Retained to negotiate labor contracts for Greektown Casino
  • Negotiated Project Labor Agreement to build permanent casino for MGM Grand with all Detroit unions
  • Negotiated labor contracts for Lionel Trains with UAW
  • Successfully represented Colt Firearms in UAW matters
  • Prevented labor/union  disruption at opening of Palace Entertainment Complex during Michael Jackson concert
