Nationally Recognized Agricultural and Equine Law Authority to Speak in Six States

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Foster Swift shareholder Julie I. Fershtman is currently scheduled to speak at agriculture and equine industry conferences in six states in 2019 on timely topics such as contracts, insurance bad faith and livestock liability among many others. An attorney for more than 32 years, Fershtman focuses her practice in business litigation, insurance coverage, insurance defense and equine law from the firm’s Southfield office.  

Agricultural Claims Conference: March 18-19, Kansas City, MO

Julie will speak on two topics:

  • “Bad Faith in Commercial Agribusiness”​ on March 18
  • “Livestock Liability - Loose Livestock, Cow Out & Trespassing Claims”​ on March 19

34th National Conference on Equine Law: May 1-2 in Lexington, KY

On May 1, Julie will speak on these topics:

  • “Equine Activity Liability Act Update”
  • “Legal Issues in Hosting an Equine Clinic on your Farm”

“AgriCon” (Agribusiness Conferences): April 15-17 in Sacramento, CA, June 18-19 in Richmond, VA and September 24-25 in Des Moines, IA

  • Equine liability and how to avoid legal disputes in the equine industry

Fershtman has been a speaker on topics of law, liability, and insurance in 29 states and is the author of three books on legal issues.  Her professional distinctions include being listed in The Best Lawyers in America, 2013 - 2019 for Commercial Litigation and Insurance Law.  In 2017, she received the ABA’s “Excellence in the Advancement of Animal Law Award” and is a past president of the State Bar of Michigan. She has tried cases before juries in four states and has been pro hac vice counsel in 18 jurisdictions nationwide.
