Foster Swift Attorney Jean Schtokal selected as one of Michigan Lawyers Weekly 2013 "Women in the Law"

LANSING, Mich. – Attorney Jean Schtokal of Foster Swift Collins and Smith PC was chosen as one of Michigan Lawyers Weekly's "Women in the Law" for 2013. A committee selected Schtokal for her outstanding professional accomplishments, mentoring and community involvement. She and 24 of her colleagues will be honored at a luncheon on Sept. 26, 2013 at the Detroit Marriott in Troy.

Schtokal is a shareholder and practices in the business transactions area at Foster Swift, handling both foreign and domestic matters. Her experience as an international business attorney in Lansing is quite expansive and includes international trade, distribution, manufacturing and licensing arrangements; establishment of subsidiaries, branch offices and facilities; joint ventures and strategic alliances, as well as acquisitions and direct investments.

Her professional accomplishments have led Schtokal to hold many leadership roles. She has been appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to the Michigan District Export Council-West; she is a member of the Advisory Board of the Center for International Business Education and Research at Michigan State University, has been named Executive in Residence at Michigan State University International Business Center and the Eli Broad College of Business and serves as Co-Chair of the Global Business Club of Mid-Michigan.

Schtokal is also an active member of her community. She is on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Board of the United Nations Association - USA Lansing Chapter.

The "Women in the Law" program is dedicated to saluting high-achieving women lawyers in Michigan and their accomplishments. The 25 women chosen as "Women in the Law" will vote for this year's "Women of the Year," announced at the luncheon.
