Foster Swift Energy & Sustainability Update
October 14, 2009

On October 7, 2008 Foster, Swift's Energy and Sustainability Team members (including Kirsten McNelly, Scott Storey, Liza Moore, and Kim Hafley) traveled by bus with clients and friends of the firm to visit the John Deere Wind Park located in Ubly, Michigan.  This fun and informative outing gave participants the chance a see and hear some of the 46 wind turbines which are said to produce enough electricity to power about 20,000 homes.  Jeanette Hagen of John Deere, a landowner with a wind turbine closer than 1,000 feet to her home, hosted the tour and commented firsthand on the pros and (from her perspective, few if any) cons of having a 262 foot wind turbine literally in her backyard.

The Wind Park, which has been operational since late 2008, is expected to reduce approximately 131,163 tons of carbon dioxide annually.
