Sherry A. Stein
Shareholder
Joining the firm in 1983, Sherry is a shareholder in the Employment, Labor and Benefits Group and specializes in employee benefits, specifically:
- Qualified and non-qualified deferred compensation plans.
- Cafeteria plans.
- Executive deferred compensation.
- Health and welfare benefit plans.
- COBRA issues.
Sherry's focus is helping design, implement and maintain employee benefit plans and programs that meet clients' needs and that are compliant. To that point, she also represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Department of Labor with compliance, correction and audit matters.
A strong advocate of keeping clients abreast of the ever-changing employment, labor and benefits law, Sherry spearheads the practice group's quarterly newsletters and breaking news email blast programs.
Sherry is a past leader of the firm's Employment, Labor and Benefits practice group and is active in the Employee Benefit sections of the local, state and national bar associations as well as the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Sherry secured her undergraduate degree from Hunter College of the City University of New York and her legal education, from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1982, where she graduated cum laude and was a member of the Delta Theta Phi Fraternity.
