Allan joined Foster Swift in 2002 as "of counsel." He continues to provide insight and strategy on a wide range of intellectual property matters.
Admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 1962, Allan had a tremendously successful career in both in-house counsel and private practice. His earliest position prior to passing the patent bar was serving as an Examiner, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Allan then served as the Patent Advisor, HQ U.S. Air Force before moving to his first in-house counsel position with the American Company from 1963-1965. In 1965 Alan took the job as in house counsel to the intellectual property powerhouse, 3M Company where he served for four years before becoming the district attorney for St. Croix County in Wisconsin. From 1972 - 1987, Allan enjoyed private practice. In 1987, Allan moved to Michigan for the opportunity to work as in house counsel to Dow Corning Corporation. Since late 1990, Maki returned to private practice where he continues to provide guidance on securing and protecting intellectual property rights.
