LANSING, Mich. — Janene McIntyre has joined the Lansing, Michigan office of Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith, P.C. as an associate in the Business & Corporate Practice Group. She will practice in the Public Finance area.
Prior to joining Foster Swift, McIntyre was a bond lawyer with Lewis & Munday, P.C. in Lansing since September 2007. She has served as bond counsel, note counsel or underwriters' counsel for over 30 tax-exempt and taxable bond and note issues, including Build America Bonds, of issuers including the State of Michigan, the Michigan Municipal Bond Authority and many Michigan universities, school districts and municipalities. She also has served as bond counsel for various bond issues from other jurisdictions.
Before her legal career, McIntyre was a State of Michigan employee for over 12 years, in the Michigan Municipal Bond Authority (MMBA) within the Michigan Department of Treasury, and in the Office of Equal Opportunity within the Michigan Department of Human Services. As the MMBA’s Executive Assistant, McIntyre served as lead liaison to state and local governmental officials, superintendents and chief financial officers regarding financing alternatives offered by the MMBA, assisted in the coordination and monitoring of work in the MMBA's financing programs, and served as liaison to the MMBA's Board of Trustees.
While maintaining her employment with the State, McIntyre attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School as an honors scholarship recipient and served as an lngham County Circuit Court judicial clerk and a legislative assistant to the Representative for the 68th District in the Michigan House of Representatives. In addition, McIntyre studied International Comparative Law in Florence, Italy, in May- July 2005 through the University of San Diego School of Law Foreign Study Program. She received her undergraduate degree from Northwood University, magna cum laude.
McIntyre is a Board Member of Michigan Women in Finance and a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, and the Lansing Black Lawyers Association.
