Kelly A. LaGrave, ACP, a business and corporate paralegal with Foster Swift Collins & Smith, P.C., was elected to serve as the 2014-2015 President of the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA). The election took place during the NALA Board of Director's meeting in Tulsa, Okla. on March 1. She will take office during NALA's annual conference in Charleston, S.C. in July.

An accomplished paralegal, LaGrave has earned the Certified Paralegal designation, as well as Advanced Paralegal Certification in the areas of Intellectual Property, Real Estate, and Contracts Administration/Contracts Management. In addition, she has helped with the review and establishment of NALA's advanced certification program in Incorporated Business Organizations and Unincorporated Business Organizations.

To LaGrave, NALA empowers paralegals to "take charge of their careers and to be exceptional in their field by offering opportunities for paralegals to update their legal knowledge and to enhance their careers through a variety of educational programs and paralegal certification."  LaGrave believes that "the foundation for this empowerment is NALA's paralegal certification programs.  By providing the definitive national standard in paralegal certification, NALA provides paralegals with the tools they need for professional growth and success."

On her recent election, LaGrave commented that "I find my service to NALA both fulfilling and rewarding.  I am truly inspired every day that I have an opportunity to serve.  I am honored to follow in the footsteps of those visionaries who have served before me and thrilled to continue my service to NALA as its next President."
