State Bar President Fershtman given "Optimist Respect for Law Award"

Julie Fershtman awarded by Bloomfield Hills Optimist Club

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - Julie Fershtman, a shareholder at the law firm of Foster Swift Collins & Smith PC, in its Farmington Hills office, was given the “Optimist Respect for Law Award” by the Bloomfield Hills Optimist Club on June 21, 2012.   The award reads, “To a tireless champion for the bar, for its improvement, service and standing in the community and for the optimism you bring to all in the great State of Michigan”.  The Bloomfield Hills Optimist Club, a subsidiary of Optimist International, implements and sponsors programs that inspire local youth with a sense of their own responsibilities.  They work to “bring out the best in kids” in the Bloomfield Hills area by sponsoring service projects to improve the lives of children in the area.

Fershtman is the 2011-2012 President of the 42,000-member State Bar of Michigan.  She practices in the areas of commercial litigation, insurance defense and coverage, and equine law.  She is a frequent writer with more than 200 published articles and three books.  A frequent speaker, she has lectured in 27 states on topics that include liability, insurance, and risk management.  A member of the State Bar of Michigan for 26 years, she is a graduate of Emory College and Emory Law School.
